hi
I have installed a new 1.7.2 site and have also installed the greek language pack. Everythign seems to be working properly except for one thing. When I select greek everything changes over to greek showing only the greek menus and articles which is perfect so far, but it does not display the english flag to change back to english. I am testing the site to see that everything works after adding data to the site but the only way I can go back to english is to either retype the site in the address bar or to go back on my browse.

What am I doing wrong?

Have you followed the tutorial of the demo site?
http://multilingual-joomla-demo.cloudac ... steps.html

If yes, please post here a screen capture of the multilanguage status module.

Firstly thank you for the quick reply.

I have attached screenshot of the language module. The section not visible on the screen shot at the bottom is the visibility, all pages are selected for this.

Thank you once again for your help

I am been going through the tutorial you sent me and this "4.Is there a specific menu containing a Default Home Page menu item to which is assigned language "All" and its menu module unpublished?
" just does not make sense to me.

The main meno item home is set as default and is set to all as well but this is the home page for any lanugage, from here the user should be able to select a language and the greek home page will be displayed. If I enter another page as a main page unpublished on not the front end crashes and displayed a 404.

1. Follow the tutorial. A multilanguage site has ONE DEFAULT HOME page per Content Language, there fore one MAINMENU per Content Language.
You can log in the demo back-end to see how this is done.
2. The Multilingual Status Module, as explained in the tutorial is NOT related to the language switcher module.
Read again this:
http://community.joomla.org/blogs/commu ... odule.html
Clicking on the module in back-end will show you the errors you did.

ok I managed to get it to work but now for some reason when selecting greek, the main page shows but in English not in Greek. You can toggle between the languages and it works. You have to click on the "greek home page" to see the welcome page in greek and the layout of the site which has a flash banner displaying images only shows on the english welcome page not the greek. I am sure I am doing something wrong here but I can't figure out just what it is.

Thank you for your help and quick response.
