Hi everyone,

I have been following all of the tutorials on how to successfully install a language switcher into Joomla 1.6 and I still cannot get it working, any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Some problems I am experiencing:

1st problem is that after I downloaded the Turkish language pack, I set the site language to Turkish as default and I noticed that nothing changes (ie, the login form etc stays the same). Is there a problem with the language pack I have installed? I still want my default to be in English but I was just checking to make sure the language worked and it doesn’t??

2nd problem is that after I click the Turkish flag on my frontend, NOTHING changes, even though I have followed all of the steps in the tutorials available on the internet.

Sorry, I’m just a bit confused as I have followed all of the instructions and can’t seem to get it working.

Please help :D

1.6 is now obsolete and vulnerable.
Please use 1.7.5, or , even better, 2.5.1.

Language packs links are available here:
http://community.joomla.org/translation ... tions.html

The official demo site is

Thank you for your response.

I have a joomla 1.6 template and the "love factory" extension (I have a dating website), will these stop working if I were to upgrade to Joomla 1.7.5?

I have done so much work on it and I'm scared to lose all my settings.

Easy to know.
As all people making internet sites, you should have an instance of it locally on your PC (using WAMP or MAMP)

Just upgrade the site locally and test.

FYI, your extension can be updated to 2.5
See http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... hips/12205

Concerning the template, contact the template developper.

Hi there, I have updated to Joomla 2.5 and everything seemed to be working fine until I encountered some problems:

1. It was showing the Turkish flag on the home page and re-directing fine, however all of a sudden the flag disappeared! I have no idea what could have caused it because all of my settings have stayed the same :s When I choose the drop down function in the language module, it won’t even write the language name! It’s all missing! This is so confusing!! When I change the URL to Turkish, all of my Turkish settings are still there, however the language switcher isn’t working? I have gone through and tried to re-do it all but Im still having the same problem.

2. When I click 'Global Configurations' something weird happens and the page sort of turns into text where I can’t click save or anything??

I would really appreciate any insight into this?

How did you update?
You first must update to 1.6.5 or 1.6.6
Then update to 1.7.3 or 1.7.5
Then update to 2.5.1

In all cases, Install the update packs via Extension Manager => Install.
When getting there, you may have to fix the Database in Extension Manager new tab

ALSO, very important is the way multilanguage is set in 2.5.x and since 1.7
There many differences with 1.6

You should precisely follow the tutorial here:
http://multilingual-joomla-demo.cloudac ... steps.html

Hello Nice girl

How did you go getting up to speed with 2.5, please?

Would you mind if I saw your site in action? I'm really interested in the love factory myself, but haven't seen a real life version of it yet.

Thanks.
