Hi!

In the case somebody searches google and finds a german page of my website but uses a computer where Joomla detects English as standard language,Joomla adds the language string /en/ in between and the webpage is not found anymore but directed to the 404 error page.

Any idea why this is happening and what can be done to solve this issue?

Maybe you are using any plugin which is doing this?

I have a similar problem.
Someone sends me a link to a page. His/her default language is different from mine.
When I open the link I get a 404 page.

The site uses the standard language components/plugins. I followed the tutorial on the joomla site.

Same problem if I visit a page in language X, copy the link, visit another page, change language, paste the link in the browser address bar.

Any suggestion?
