Some bugs were corrected in the language filter plugin.
The new version will be released with 2.5.5.
In the meanwhile, you can exchange the file.
See:

Please do this change before any post

Which J version are you using?
2.5.6 corrects some vulnerabilities and should be used instead of any former version.

Hi,

I do have version 2.5.6 installed, and I've checked the configuration many times, but my default language (it) is often ignored, as you can see here:
http://www.ischia.it

That's the only installation with this problem, you can check for example
http://www.e-ischia.it
and see that it's all right.

I've tried both browser settings and default language for new users.
I've also tried disabling cookies as explained here

Could you please help 'cause it's driving me crazy :(

Thanks for your attention,

Alfredo Tripicchio

I am not sure I understand your issue.
Please explain further what you are expecting in both sites with precise urls.

URL: http://www.ischia.it
Version: Joomla! 2.5.6
Language Filter Plugin configuration:
Language Selection for new Visitors: Site language (italian)
Automatic Language Change: yes

The problem:
When I first click on it I get the italian version as expected
This did not always happen before, when I was using
Language Selection for new Visitors: Browser language
sometimes I could get on the english page, even if my browser is italian
I've also tried playing with the browser language using the Quick Locale Switcher plugin for FireFox

when I click on the top left logo (href='/' or href='index.php' in all templates, so I don't think it's a template issue) then I'm redirected to http://www.ischia.it/en/

If you cannot reproduce the error then probably it's something related to my client, but then why other clients in my intranet behave the same?

I'm trying to understand what happens after the server replies to the client with a 303 page, probably I should use some proxy, or try other clients as lynx, I don't know.

The link to http://www.e-ischia.it was just an example (one out of several hosted on the same servers) of a correct behaviour.

Hope I've been a little more exhaustive this time.

Regards,
Alfredo

This has been solved in 2.5.6 as explained above, when no cookie is already saved as it only concerns new visitors.

I cant reproduce this browsing your site.
Clicking on the logo always redirects to the home page for the Content Language displayed at the time.

Generally speaking, it looks like we should introduce a new parameter in languagefilter to disable language cookies if one wants the site to always open in the default site language when the url is set so. Will make some tests.

Yes, disabling cookies would be nice.

I'll follow this post and test a patch as soon as it is available.

Thank You
