Multilingual site with language intro selection
Hi, I need a little help for some suggestions.
I have a multilingual website (6 languages). I have 2 conditions that I have not found yet a solution:
1. I want to use url language code on all languages (domain.com/de, domain.com/fr, domain.com/en, ... )
2. I want to put on the domain.com root a language intro selection and when a visitor access the main root of my domain.com to see a page with language selection.
Can anyone have a suggestion?
LE: the url language code could be before as well like sub domain (de.domain.com)

1. Set the "Remove URL Language Code" on the Language Filter Plugin.
2. Have you published the Language switcher module?

Re: Multilingual site with language intro selection
Ok, sorry, may be I didn't explained correctly.
All url language codes settings are done, there is no problem with that, I have http://www.domain.com/de,en,it,fr...
The issue is with the home page intro, I would like to setup a simple language page selection on the http://www.domain.com root. How can I do this, because if I set the "Remove URL Language Code" to YES then, the default language (English for ex.) will have the http://www.domain.com/article root not http://www.domain.com/en/article and if I set the plug-in to NO then the http://www.domain.com root disappears.
So, can some one give me a suggestion regarding this issue?

The root should not disappear.
Is the language status module in the back-end green?
Have you followed this tutorial from start to end?

Re: Multilingual site with language intro selection
I think that you don't understand what I talking about.
Please, test what I described above
LE: the module is published, all flags are on top, all is ok
what I talking about is that when I set the plug-in "Remove URL Language Code" to NO, the url home page address become:
for english: www.domain.com/en
for french: www.domain.com/fr
for spanish: www.domain.com/es
......
so given this, I can't set up on www.domain.com root a simple intro page with language selection because can not be accessed

Have you cleared the cache after the change?
A cookie for the language is also stored in the browser. You may delete that if it points to the codeless language.

Re: Multilingual site with language intro selection
ok
is pointless to explain to you more.
please do some test, setup multiple languages on a test site, publish the module and then please try to access your basic domain address www.testsitedomain.com... you will see that will redirerct you to the default language page www.testsitedomain.com/en,fr,de (or what language is inserted)

Re: Multilingual site with language intro selection
ok, I think that I found the solution
setup "Remove URL Language Code" to YES, then the home page for the default language will have the root www.domain.com . suppose that the english is the default language.
in language manager, content section, we have to add 2 english tag languages, 1 with the English (United Kingdom) en-GB tag and other with English (USA) en-US tag, we setup one for the home page with language selection intro option with the root www.domain.com and other for the english content www.domain.com/en.
I think it works

Re: Multilingual site with language intro selection
The issue remains.
When you create a en-US Content language and install the en-US language pack, you have to add the "us" URL Language Code as you can't use the same one for both en-US and en-GB content languages. Then set en-US as default site language. If the plugin is set to remove that code, you will indeed get mysite.com as url. You also have to create at least one specific menu with a Home menu item for en-US.
This means that the en-US choice will be proposed in the language switcher module and that any time one clicks on the flag/name for en-US, it will redirect to the Home page for en-US, which I suppose would only display a language switcher module instance tagged to en-US.
I guess this could be overriden by a custom layout for the module that would not display en-US if the module is displayed in a page using another content language.

Re: Multilingual site with language intro selection
you are absolutely right
but what I did was that I changed the flag gif picture with an other 1px transparent (or a simple bar) gif and I put it on the last position.
I took this option to solve the issue... at this moment is no other solution and for now I'm satisfied.
