Hello,

We recently launched a multi-language version of our website (http://www.mircomgroup.com) - currently using English and French with the possibility of adding Spanish and Italian once those translations are done.

It is generally working well but there are two issues I've noticed.

1. Sometimes when you are in French and you try switching back to English (using the language switcher module in the top right hand corner) - it won't switch back. I am not sure what causes it or the exact steps to duplicate it. I've only had the issue in Firefox, not yet in Chrome or IE.

2. The site uses subdomains to host images (ie. images.mircomgroup.com.) This used to work ok for the French images but now they are broken. The multi-language seems to be breaking it.

The images subdomain just points to http://www.mircomgroup.com/images (the default Joomla! images folder.)

ie. on the homepage there is an image at http://images.mircomgroup.com/about/mgc ... -group.jpg but it is changing it to http://www.mircomgroup.com/about-usmgc- ... -group.jpg which is not a valid image location.

Details:

1. Followed instructions on setting it up posted in forums here.
2. System - Language Filter is enabled (Browser settings, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes)
3. System - Language Code is disabled

Is something setup wrong or is there a bug causing this issue.

Thanks.

This is quite confusing.

Code:
http://images.mircomgroup.com/about/mgc-product-group.jpg

can't be changed to
Code:
http://www.mircomgroup.com/about-usmgc-product-group.jpg

by Joomla itself, as I tested entering this url directly.

Looks like it is working for background images though
http://images.mircomgroup.com/tit-about.jpg
I suggest you give up using a separate domain to store your images

Hello,

Thanks for the reply.

I will try that for the French page images.

Do you have any idea what could cause the other issue? A number of people have had it, it seems to only happen for those who switch back and forth between languages - getting 404's, not being able to switch back to English etc.

Update: An example - I was just on the French version of the About Us page (http://www.mircomgroup.com/fr/a-propos-de-nous) and then I clicked the English language link and was taken to http://www.mircomgroup.com/fr/about-us instead of the proper http://www.mircomgroup.com/en/about-us even though the menu association is setup properly.

Thanks.
