No Language OR Wrong Language Redirection

Post by casper83 » Thu Dec 27, 2012 6:43 pm

i have joomla 2.5 and i installed to languages (en & ar) & the SEF is enabled
and my default language is (ar)
the problem is the server always redirect me to mydomain.com/ar
even if i typed it without the lang like (mydomain.com)
or even with wrong language or completely wrong url like (mydomain.com/es or mydomain.com/plaplpl or mydomain.com/zeze/fofo)
it redirects to (mydomain.com/ar/es or mydomain.com/ar/plaplpl or mydomain.com/ar/zeze/fofo)

so what i want is if no string after the domain it redirects to default lang like (mydomain.com) -> (mydomain.com/ar) this is correct
but if there is any wrong string after the domain or even wrong lang code or not installed lang code it raise 404 error without rewrite the url
with appending the default lang code
is that possible ?

Thanks.

I believe that you have enabled the plug-in "System - Language Filter". In this plug-in there is an option "Remove URL Language Code". Choose Yes to this option.

Be informed that due to cookie setting, after the first time when you visit the site, it would default to the language that was last seen. So, you may have to clear the browser cache to delete the cookies if you want to test how things happen.

it not clear as to how your site is built.

I would suggest the following:

(a) In the Module Manager, enable the Administrator module "Multilanguage Status". Once enabled, you could click on the link "Multilanguage Stautus" that appears in the Status Bar.

Take a copy of the pop-up window that shows up and post it in your reply.

(b) Hope you are following the instructions provided at http://multilingual-joomla-demo.cloudaccess.net/.

so i want to get error with this status like (404) but what happened is it redirect to
http://www.reviewzat.com/ar/ttt/
how can i get this error page instead of redirect to default language ?

Please respond:
Is your site set up as a multilanguage site or not?

Your en-GB Content language is not published, as the screenshot demonstrates.
Therefore your site can't work properly in multilanguage.

First publish the content language, then test again.

Set the settings as desired in the language filter plugin parameters to use or not the language prefix for the default site language.
As a cookie is set, it is the last language loaded in your browser that will determine which Content language will display when the url is wrong.

Then if you do not obtain a 404, it means your template is not correctly designed.
