Hi i am trying to rank hi for my for my website title, insuring i need to rank high for my website name as a keyword. However, i am not only confused at why certain sites with an article or product with the same name seem to constantly rank higher than me in the Google results, when i have the name in the site name, keywords and site description. Plus i have also noticed that result are also different depending on whether i am using lower or higher case. However, the main issue, is that over the past three days the keyword has gone from page 8, to second on page 1 and then back to page 5. I am a little bit puzzled at why the keyword seems to change so much. But, also another website with just an article of the same name has increased to 2nd place page 1, where my website was the previous night. Does anyone have any explanation for this?

Hi matt,
Why do you keep on changing your signature very often. Couple of days ago you have given link for the "Eastern Odyssey" and now you have changed the hyperlink. It's not good to change the hyperlinks often, then your keyword rankings will definitely fluctuate. Also try diversify keywords in the hyperlinks while getting backlinks. And the most important thing is that get backlinks from your niche related website.

Well the signature was my thought as i thought changing it to a key work would help, however, did know that in doing so i broke Joomla rules. So i had to change it back, i dont think that had any affect though, as it was only like that for 12 hours. As far as keyword backlinking goes i am trying my best and will try using my site name in blog comments from now on. Plus carry on looking for more keyword blogs. I just never really have understood the keyword ranking and its doing my head in. The problem, is even though my site has a good ranking now, its still struggling to get site users. Bookmarking and social networking brings in a small volume of traffic every time i publish an article. The problem is i need the keywords to be affective to bring in the right target audience. Though the main issue i am struggling with as i said before is my site name. In my personal reason there is no reason why my site title would rank lower than people's article titles.

This fluctuation is called google dance and it happens for 2-3 weeks until google stabilize your website. After Penguin update the "dance" amplified , and I don't know why
