Re: Article has multiple URL's
There is no fix for this and there never will be a fix for J!2.5, because it's near EOL!Jeroen07 wrote:Still no GOOD fix here?
Also there will never be a fix for J!3.3.x I guess! J!3.x is adding cononical tag to fight this, however, like I wrote in another thread, you can produce 3 different cononical links with the url's.

Krash, great example here, hopefully someone that works on the Joomla project will finally understand the seriousness of this.. This issue has existed for awhile. I just checked, and the main Joomla page with the phoney bullshit url filename still returns content as if it's real and the url with the duplicate content is still indexed and crawled in Google as if it's real (hence the duplicate content penalty). This is such a SEO nightmare, why hasn't Joomla fixed this yet? It seems like it would be such an easy fix.

Re: Article has multiple URL's
I think that this issue has not yet been addressed. I hope the development team will come up with an official fix soon.

Re: Article has multiple URL's
Yep, this has caused me a problem as well in Webmaster Tools. The best I'm able to do at the moment is to stick a Band Aid over it by adding a few lines to my robots.txt to try and get google to stop indexing the randomly generated pages I want to get rid of, such as:
...and a wildcard question mark to get rid of any URL containing one
Code: Select all
Disallow: /component/
Disallow: /27-categoryname/
Disallow: /2-anothercategoryname/
Code: Select all
Disallow: /*?

Re: Article has multiple URL's
We are being plagued with this problem
Two things,
Has anyone tried this plugin and did it help? We are about to give it a try:

Also found this relevant info about the problems with Joomla canonical router:
http://joomlaseo.com/blog/seo-related-p ... joomla-3-4
Be interested to get feedback on the first

Re: Article has multiple URL's
Happy i'm not the only one, just little shock that this is here for years
I have the same situation I think and founded some wird thing at checkup diplucates at Google.
Old site had other menu's, with item id in it. We build new one and now I see that Google has checked the old links, afcourse, than because of some wird stuf Joomla shows home page for example on a lot old Links, Joomla 3.4.5 rewrite url. this links should not work, that menu oor page is not existing. Than i saw that the id does exist, so sometimes it gives that article on a lot different whay's.
It all where old links what now can find somehow a whay to a not correct content:
example:
http://www.mijander.nl/trainingen?catid=0&id=37 and a lot more like this.
more wird:
http://www.mijander.nl/quotes/18-quote/ ... leerkracht
gives totaly not that content, something else but you can strip url without getting 404:
http://www.mijander.nl/quotes/18-quote/ ... leerkracht works
http://www.mijander.nl/quotes/18-quote/ ... 44-leerkra
http://www.mijander.nl/quotes/18-quote/29-femke-44-l
http://www.mijander.nl/quotes/18-quote/29-femke-4
http://www.mijander.nl/quotes/18-quote/29 all works!!!
http://www.mijander.nl/quotes/18-quote/2 than it wil not work gives 404 page
I have id 29 arcticle but that content is something totaly different.
in the old site it was just a artcle for a quote module at joomla 1.5
not build by us, but that does not mather, build just normal that site.
Wird not
I'm going to try seo component and above solutions, see when it will give 404.
On the 404 we have sitemap so that is good than

Re: Article has multiple URL's
I have the same problem. Random generated multiple urls.
Does anyone tried this?
Make menu items for all your categories or unpublish categories that not append to menu items.
I think that this is the cause of the problem.
I tried it yesterday and i'm waiting for the next google crawl to see if this fix the problem.
