I am working on someones site and it is Joomla 1.5.22. The site was partially created before I got to it and the SEF urls was not turned on and apache override was off. I changed the htaccess.txt to .htaccess and turned on SEF urls and Apache. The homepage works fine, but the interior lose format and there is no template. There has to be a fix for this, right? HeLp!? Please.
The host DOES use a LINUX server.

somehow "template" is added into the url. what in the world. it is in all urls.
even when i go to the url with template omitted, still getting 404. i cannot for the life of me figuire out what the guy ahead of me did to get template into the url???!!

I guess here template may be category. Have you install any SEF component to the system?

i do not see any sef plugins or componants. i did change the sections and categories because they had used "demo" ones instead of creating new ones that coorrolated to the topic. it's such a nightmare trying to clean up someone elses mess. I don't see "template" in the list of categories though.

i tried to change htacces.txt, but it made the Admin a 500 internal error.

Oh. ok. i got the file to change now and have made some progress....
http://www.watchcom.co.uk/ looks normal...
but now internal pages are like this

and do not work at all with template removed from url

i think i got it. they just have it so messed up. they named the "alias" template on all these pages!!
