That is almost the same thing, ones you rename the directory, or create a new directory some paths Joomla use needs to be modified. So you need to have backend access to your host and be allowed to do changes there. cPAnel type of accesss.

m working in my localhost. thank you for your time and the replies. i really appreciate it.
for your kind info, there's no directory "jomsocial" which is confusing me. i guess you haven't use this component before.
in the "components" folder, it goes by the name "com_community" but the SEF URL shows it as "http://mydomain.com/jomsocial/
i want to rename it and i just dont know how!

Could you please let me know how you did this as I ihave to do the same thing.
We worked on our site in a directory called: testsite
We would like it to be more like: ns
So when visitors are viewing the site the page link does'nt have "testsite" in it's name.
And would this work the same if "testsite" were a sub-domain other than a "sub-directory"
Thank you so much (anyone/everyone) for your assistance on this!

2 questions:Masis wrote:You must create the directory "home" and move all your site files to this directory.
1) Does this work the same with a sub-domain ie: home.mydomain.com
and
2) What about the database? Will it use the same database with no problem or does the database need to be fixed in a config file?
Thanks so much for your help.. much appreciated!!!!!
