Unknown 404 errors in Google Webmaster Tools

Hi everybody,

I have a very strange problem with Joomla 2.5...
Google Webmaster tools invent URLs (doesn't exist on my website) then list them in 404 errors.
If I take a look on the source tab to know where is the link to these URLs, there is nothing.

That's crazy...

I use sh404sef and native Joomla SEF.

It might be include broken links of your site, if the figure is high then fix them.

Not very high, each day 10-20 new error 404.

Of course, I have not broken links on my website, I have checked with Xenu.

These links doesn't exist, Google create them... It seems it is frequent problem with Joomla. Somebody talk about Javascript URL generation.
It's not my first Joomla website with this problem.

For example in this forum :

You are right, It often happen with joomla sites, some months before I was also bothered with this issue, I tried to redirect them from my back-end & rest of other I added in Robots.txt with no follow tag, now I'm seeing new 404 error urls in my GWT but now I'm just ignoring them.

I'm afraid by the SEO impact of these errors...
It's not good for the Joomla image relative to Wordpress :-(

Unfortunately, they don't talk about "nonexistent" 404 URLs.

Sorry, can't tell you exactly, as their algorithms are always mysterious , but surely it will not majorly impact on SEO. Just make sure the figure of 404 errors will not be high, otherwise it will be a bad sign for your website. Best Luck.

I have 20 new 404 errors each day... That's just crazy... :-(

Hi!
If you have the same unsolved problem, here is the solution.
Probably in the code somewhere is a missing “/” at the beginning of some URL in href.
So google webmaster tool adds this link to the end of other urls, and consider it as an error.
Found this bug recently on my joomla site...

I had also no-rewrite URL, but today, they disappeared from GWT, it seems we have to wait many month...
