Want to put rhuk_milkyway template into my 1.6

I really don't like the new design of 1.6, and am trying to put the rhuk_milkyway template onto my new website. The instructions say: "If you would like to keep the 1.5 layouts, you can find them in the html folder of the MilkyWay template. Simply copy the layouts you want to the html folder of your template."
I've tried this, but it doesn't work.
Please help me.

Thanks!
Michael

Milkyway was removed from the code base just hours before the release packages were built. Simply put, it was not converted over and fully functional and it was decided to not ship a faulty template. We'll need to update some of the documentation it seems.

So, do you mean, that my previous rhuk_milkway that was working on 1.5 won't work under Joomla 1.6 that I just migrated?

Exchanging the subject, after migrating from Joomla 1.5.22 to Joomla 1.6 with Jupgrade, I'm getting "Error:500" when hitting the link to view site. Any tip or link to solve it?

Thanks in advance and have a great 2011.

Hi, unfortunately, I, also, don't like 1.6. Is there any chance that we can get a template looking like rhuk_milkyway, or a way to put it in 1.6?
Otherwise, I'll, just, install 1.5.

i am in NO WAY a coder but to me rhuk_milkyway seems to be a pretty easy template
if you compare this template to others
this is a very basic one which i am surprised it has not been moved to j1.6 yet

Yes, I need a simple and easily editable template. Besides it, design of Milkyway looks very closely to what I need.

Well, there is one way we can try and solve this problem. Lets take a template that was converted and compare the 1.5 code to the 1.6 code. It might look like a long process but it might be worth trying to understand what changes were made to the code during the conversion. And with that you can try and make the similar and necessary changes to rhuk_milkyway so that it functions stably with v1.6.

If I had enough passion for this field, I would probably do that as it seems like a fairly logical solution.

I don't like the 1.6 templates either. It's nasty. (hehe.) I actually have my own 1.5 template, from RocketTheme called Catalyst.

Anybody know what is changed in the 1.6 templates and how to mirgrate a 1.5 template? It can't be that hard..

Okay everyone, clearly you all have no clue what is going on... Joomla! 1.6 is the same as 1.5 (from your scope of skills). There really isn't much difference from J! 1.5 to J! 1.6 as far as templates go so please don't talk smack about how you don't like 1.6 because of that... you don't know what you're talking about. If you want a blank template, go to the Atomic template and start your new template from scratch. You of course will have to have HTML and CSS skills in order to create it.
If you have no skills here:
tpl_rhuk_milkyway.zip
NOTE: I did not go through all the css to make changes, so if needed... do that yourself! I have never used rhuk_milkyway and I am unfamiliar with the css structure. I am quite sure that some changes will need be made and I don't feel like doing it, sorry!

I'm a noob and I also find 1.6 more difficult than 1.5 and particularly text formatting. Am I missing something or is there no text format button in 1.6?

Article Manager: Edit Article
When you copy-paste text you also paste the formatting. Is there a way to select text and remove formatting?

Yes, it works the same as Joomla 1.5. Just highlight the text and when it turns blue click the button that looks like an eraser above the input box. If it also has links, you might have to click the unlink button as well. If your editor doesn't show any buttons, set your editor to Advanced mode and activate all the buttons. Then hover your mouse over the buttons in the menu bars at the top of the area where you paste text, and it will tell you what each button does.

You have to go to Extensions->Extension Manager, then click the Discover Link. On the next page click the blue discover link in the top right corner again, and it should discover the template you uploaded. Then it will be in templates and you can assign it.

Joomla 1.6x on Apache 2.2, php 5.3.5, MySQL 5.0.7, locally on Win 32 XPSP3 with XAMPP 1.7.4.

My problem: I installed rhuk-milkyway ext template. The Main Menu and Login Form are both messed up. I also lost the use of the Administration menu - it was still visible but dead.

I had to change back to the default 1.6 template to fix.

What changes do I need to make for the rhuk-milkyway ext template?

Sorry to revive such an old topic, I've searched the forum and there's one more thread but didn't work.

I installed rhuk_milkyway on 1.7 and all is well actually, except for one bit. Under each headline I have the "published on" and "written by" details, but those 2 lines have a left padding of 40px (although the "Details" line is fine).

I've inspected the elements and it says "-webkit-margin-start: 40px;" although it happens in Chrome, Firefox, Opera and IE. It's under the <d1 class="article-info">.

Anyone come across something similar?

Thanks in advance.

Anyone made a full conversion of the template to display menu ?
Or is there someone knowing a close style template for joomla 1.7 ?

I am not a huge fan of CSS and joomla 1.7 since i only worked on 1.5...
