I find that I cannot change the default template from the current one to one of the preinstalled ones that come with Joomla. The change appears to happen successfully. In the Template manager, there is a star beside the new default template (tried beez-2 and beez-5), but I cannot get it to load.

The template I am trying change from is one that I upgraded from 1.5 to 1.6 according to the only tutorial I could find on the internet on how to do it (Seemingly there are less than a dozen true 1.6 templates in existence. Maybe because no one knows how to make them?). My upgrade job seemed work fine in Firefox, but then I tried it in IE, and found that deleted articles would not go away. That is why I am experimenting to ascertain if the problems I am having are due to the template.

Is there any way to fix these problems short of re-installing Joomla (with 1.5 next time)?

I followed the procedure that I found at http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/h ... la-16.html. I thought that was what I had been doing, but this time it worked. After doing this, I was able to select an article (and surprisingly, I was then able to change the default template. I switched back to the Artisteer template I am trying to use.)
