Side menus not showing up.

I am new to Joomla, so please bare with me if this is a stupid question.
I have just installed Joomla, and changed the template to one i found in sitegrounds.com site.

The problem i have is that in my site, the side menus to the right and left is not showing up, wich makes the site looks odd.

I get this problem not only with this template, but also when i install other joomla 1.7 template.
Please, what do i need to change in order for the sidemenus to show up.
