Hi
I'm have been trying to install the nivo slider module and whatever I try doesn't seem to work. I have successfully installed it locally (no problem) and also on another live site- I installed it from the URL and the site was in the root directory, but in this instance it is in a sub-folder.

I am getting the error
'Error connecting to the server: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found
Invalid URL'

I've also tried uploading the zip file to the 'module' folder and trying 'discover' but that didn't work.

I'm wondering if it is to do with the /tmp file in the configuration file - or the warnings in the extension manager about the php.ini. I have no idea how to change that or what I should change.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Barb

Okay I have managed to install it by extracting the zipped file locally, then transferring the files and folders to a directory on the server, and then installing it from that directory.

I still don't understand what no suitable wrapper means but this has worked for me :)

I have the same problem. I've been trying to install jFusion and it wouldn't upload it right. Then when i copied it to the ../tmp/ folder and it still wouldn't install. I gave up but tried again a few days later and then it did install. But I couldn't update to the latests (cause within that 2 days they released an updated). That's when I got the error.
Code:
Error connecting to the server: failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found
Invalid URL

Closer, are you able to update extensions?
