No Recaptcha on front End in 2.5.4

I'm slowly losing the will to live, so any help appreciated.

I noticed recently that on all my sites running 2.5.4, some clean installed, some upgraded from 1.5.26, that recaptcha is not coming up on the front end login.

Different sites, different templates, different modules, same problem.

All of them have recaptcha enabled in Global Settings, User, and Contact areas.

I've entered public and private keys etc.

I've tried the default recaptcha modules and plugins, and several 3rd party captcha alterantives, all the same result, no recaptcha on the front end.

The only recaptcha that does seem to work is one that came with Fox Contact Form (a replacement for the naff standard Joomla one) - but disabling/removing that doesn't help either.

Never had these issues on previous version of Joomla. Anyone any ideas?

Hi,

I just enabled reCaptcha on my test site and from what I see the captcha is only displayed on the account registration page. It is not included on the frontend login page.

Still not found anything substantial on this. It doesn't show on frontend login in 2.5.4 onwards, but did on all the sites previously. So the obvious deduction is that something in 2.5.4 onwards has changed.

My test system is Joomla 2.5.6 and as I said previously the captcha does function on the registration page.

Just to be clear, are you talking about the core captcha functionality that is provided in Joomla or some other extension that you are using?

Could you post or PM a link to a page on one of your sites that you believe should have captcha?

That would be correct Ken. It is only the front end login screen that is the issue, recapture works on all the other forms like registration.
And yes, I'm talking of the core captcha. I have meanwhile got one of the proprietary extensions to work (OSOL), but I'd still like to use the core extension.
I'll PM a couple of the sites with the problem.

I'm having this same issue even with Joomla 3.6 . The joomla docs say it's supposed to protect the login page but it does not. This should be fixed - why on earth implement a core system ReCaptcha and leave it off the login page - the #1 hacker target?

Please add this into the core - it's vital.
