Hello, I'm using J 2.5.6 and recently my users started complaining about advertising windows that pops up while surfing my website.
Some of them also say that their antivirus is trying to block my website.
I don't authorize any advertising on my website.
What should I do to see if there is actually some unwanted code on the site?

Sorry I can't share the URL, it's a private website.

It could be hidden anywhere. I assume you downloaded a free template from somewhere? I would check all php files initially for code that doesn't make sense, e.g. long strings of garbled text that don't spell anything.

Hi, sorry but that's all a bit beyond me. I think you need some more feedback as to what pages and actions result in pop ups. That or a bit of googling the various extensions to see if anybody else has the same problem.

Private or not, if you follow the checklist that mandville posted the link to, you can clean and repair your website properly. You may think your website is 'private' but if it is exposed to the web (how else can people or clients reach it), then it can be hacked.
