My provider has an install for Joomla. I bought a template that has Hot start for Joomla in the software for the template. Should i delete the Joomla software on the site and then install Hot_Start or is ther a way to install template with removing Joomla

If you download just the template, you can install it, you do not have to uninstall Joomla!.
You would install it just like you would a extension.
Then go to Template Manager and set it as the Default Template.

If you used a install, that was installed by your server host it might have some restrictions, like 1and1 has a install for Joomla!, but for secrurity reseasons, you cannot really change anything, like the template, that is why do my own installs.

Have you actually completed the installation?

Why don't you just install the standard Joomla package from err...Joomla and then once the installation is completed successfully, do what you were advised above and install the template.

Otherwise speak to your host about their installer or to whoever is providing the "Hot Start" package (neither of which are supported here).
