Test site on new virtual server

Joomla versions 2.5, 1.7 and 1.6 are all end-of-life since December 31st 2014 and are no longer supported. Please use Joomla 3.x instead.

Test site on new virtual server

here's the scenario:

Client has existing Joomla 1.0 on their Windows IIS. I have created a new site in Joomla 1.7. They have created a new virtual server for the new site because 1.7 Requires IIS 7. No problem.

The current site is still active and domain name is pointing to the old server.

My questions is, now that I have developed the new site (on another server elsewhere), how can I upload it to the new virtual server and test it? THe new server is only accessible via IP address at present. When the site is up and working, they will repoint the domain name to this new server.

Any thoughts?
