Re: 404 Component not found - missing com_content?
I really appreciate the effort - thanks again.
I guess I'll just do a fresh install of joomla and start from scratch. The template wouldn't work anyway and it's not a very big site. Too bad joomla doesn't have it's own built-in upgrader (it's still pretty good for the price).

You could install a fresh 1.7.1 then paste the Articles in ? You could uninstall CB from the 1.5 (that you will put in the subfolder from the jpa). Then Upgrade again and see what happens ?

Re: 404 Component not found - missing com_content?
I tried uninstalling CB. I tried uninstalling just about everything and I still keep getting the exact same error. So I've done a fresh install to another folder and am now hunting around for a good template.
Thanks for all your help.

Funny I was just looking at Phoca. I like a lot of his stuff especially Bild. I can do a bit of css (2).
Also funny (I must have some weird kind of computer karma) I can't get images to show up in his photo gallery.

Re: 404 Component not found - missing com_content?
I tried that and FileZilla but they wouldn't appear anywhere. So I installed the latest beta build and now it seems to be working but 'randomly'. Sometimes it won't save when I try moving them into a category, sometimes it says it saved OK but didn't. But the state it is in now is what I wanted so I'll just keep my fingers crossed and carry on.
The guy's pretty amazing - say's he does it all himself 'in his spare time', has a mountain of documentation, is involved with the forum, and doesn't ask for a cent anywhere. And he's done some pretty tasteful templates.

It's here -> http://rockywallretainingwalls.com/pfc/ ... /index.php

This is our other company. One front page image doesn't show up just now because it's a png. Also I'm going to have to figure out how to reduce the transparency a little because it's a bit difficult to read for a business site. And get some better graphics - those are really old and have been through the wringer a few times.
BTW I see the .uk in your domain. Are you in Britain? I only ask because my daughter just finished doing her Masters at the LSE and is living in London.

Re: 404 Component not found - missing com_content?
Changed the password to the one you PM'd me for the other site
Noticed your other Super User is assigned to several User Groups. That is incorrect each user should only be assigned to one User Group. The correct way to allow Super Users to see other content is to add the SU Group to the view level(s).
Your Template was not set to use Phoca images from your Phoca 'Backgrounds category. So I set it to that. Now you need to go to Phoca component menu >> images http://rockywallretainingwalls.com/pfc/ ... alleryimgs
And upload the images from there

Linking this thread with another thread on the same subject :

In this one there are several suggestions and one where i figured out the problem for ours. I had to actually edit the database.

Re: 404 Component not found - missing com_content?
Thanks, I'll be looking at that but I've just about given up with Joomla. It seems to be getting more and more unnecessarily complicated just to do simple things which is, to me, the opposite of what it was supposed to be. Too much code and either too much disorganized documentation or none. Why does the average user need frameworks? Why do module positions not follow a numbering/naming convention? Why is it so hard to make menus work?
I'm trying Wordpress now and so far it's looking good for my use.
