Varnish Cache & Joomla 2.5

We've recently moved a number of our Joomla sites to a provider that uses Varnish Cache. While initially this seemed to work well on the front end, we quickly discovered that Joomla just simply does not play nice with Varnish.

Has anyone had any recent experience with the code changes required to have Joomla 2.5 work with a Varnish covered server?

As there has been such a rush of information... I assume it save to say that not many folks have any ideas on this.
Your best bet would be to address your query to the Varnish Community http://varnish-cache.org/
