Ok Have read through all the posts but still confussed about install.

I have 1and1 beginner
I am in the UK

Can I install Joomla or not?
require 'Idiots guide' for setup/installation

do I stay with 1and1 or should I move elsewhere?
Please help,

Your choice if you move Host's but I find 1&1 servers play quite nicely with Joomla.

You need to
  1. Connect to the server with ftp or use the file manager in 1&1 to create a folder for Joomla.
    1
  2. Create a database posting.php?mode=reply&f=429&t=363025
Can you do those to things and how many databases are allowed with your package ?
