Cannot install Joomla 1.6

Joomla versions 2.5, 1.7 and 1.6 are all end-of-life since December 31st 2014 and are no longer supported. Please use Joomla 3.x instead.

Cannot install Joomla 1.6

Hi,

I am trying to install joomla 1.6 manually on my one of site. I have got to the database configuration stage but am getting the error Could not connect to the database. Connector returned number: Unable to connect to the Database: Could not connect to MySQL.

Any suggestions

Why are you trying? 1.6 is out-of-date and no longer supported. You should be using 2.5.4 for new installations

Are the clients aware of the potential security risks they are exposing themselves to?
Make sure the versions of the software on the server meet the technical requirements.
Try reinstalling. Do not use Windows own software for unarchiving or ftping the files.

Not withstanding my previous comments kindly explain a little more as to WHY you cannot install this.
What errors are you getting?
How are you trying to install it?
Does the server meet the minimum requirement?
