New install stuck on the Database configuration

Version 1.7
Some hosting info:
Apache version 2.2.22
PHP version 5.2.17
MySQL version 5.5.21-55
Architecture x86_64
Operating system linux
Cpanel.

After i put in the database info, i selected mysql, i click next, the loading image pops but it keeps spinning.. nothing happends.
I checked phpmyadmin and i can see 68 tables created, but the image wont go away.
I doublechecked the mysql info and its good.

any ideas ?

P.S:
in the error_log file fromt the installer folder i get this:

Run the Forum post Assistant to provide the information to help us resolve the issue.

Also try dropping the database tables deleting the configuration.php and restart the installation. Select mysqli as the database type.
