Hello, I'm having the very same problem with my site :

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

I tried changing the .htaccess file, but I still get the error. I hope OP has fixed this issue with his site, and maybe he can share the solution.

Internal Server Error usually has something to do with permissions and ownership with the site's server running apache with suPHP mod.

Are you the server administrator because this is a dedicated host server?

What Joomla! version are you running?
