Hi,
I installed WAMP first to ensure i have Apache Version :2.4.2, PHP Version :5.4.3 and MySQL Version :5.5.24 .
After that i had downloaded 'joomla 2.5' in wamp-www folder and unzip all.
now, when i go to localhost\joomla, it does prompt installation page to select 'language'. after that i get an issue where it says-

Database Support:
() No

This is not allowing me to proceed with installtion. Please help me out. i performed below steps already.
1. went to php.ini file and ensured extenstion=php_mysql files are uncommented
2. default_port is set to 3306.
still issue persists..i need immidiete help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no, i dont see MYSQL service running..i tried starting it form WAMP control panel..however, it does not get started...please help!!!!

Are any of the services running? Do you have Skype or any other service open?

yes, other services is running like Apache. only MYSQL is not. i have skype running [uncheck the port 80 option already].

Where are you downloading Wamp from? Have ou tried Xampp instead of Wamp?

DO NOT RUN PHP 5.4.x at the current time it has a bug in it that causes issue with phpMyAdmin and Joomla.
There is currently no fix from PHP for this.
Revert to 5.3.x

If this does not change the situation:
  1. Have you had or do you have another installation of MySQL or perhaps another database running at the same time?
  2. Have you got another stack system such as XAMPP already installed?
    1. Stop the WampServer2 Program
    2. Go to Windows Services
    3. Look for any reference to MySQL in the extended services listing
  3. Have you tried deleting the WampServer installation?
    1. Stop the servers that are running.
    2. Go to Windows Control Panel/Add/Remove Programs and
    3. Uninstall WampServer2
    4. Download a fresh copy of the WampServer and
    5. Reinstall it.
      • Make sure you install it at the top of the C:\ directory and not in C:\ Programs (or C:\Program Files X86 or C:\Program Files - if applicable).
      • Basically install it with all the default settings.
