Hi,

I was trying to setup Joomla! on my laptop running Ubuntu 12.04.

I installed XAMPP from their website "http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-linux.html" unzipped in /opt and started the stack, it came up. "localhost" succeeded while access.

I downloaded Joomla 2.5 from Joomla.org "http://www.joomla.org/download.html" and unzipped it in "/opt/lampp/htdocs/joomla25" folder.

However "localhost/joomla25" gives a 404 error "The requested URL /joomla25 was not found on this server."

Folder permission is correct, no typing mistake all checked.

What could be wrong?

Sorry, needed to stop Ubuntu apache2 and start xampp apache2. More errors will see and report.
