I had my host upgrade my PHP from 5.2.? to 5.3.9 and my site no longer works. I can log into the backend and access all the articles. On the frontend, no matter what menu link I click on only the home page is displayed however the url indicates that it should be on the appropriate page. I've tried creating a new menu, switching templates and I get the same behavior. Any ideas?

I realize that the specs indicate that Joomla 1.6 or higher won't work on an IIS 6 webserver. However the site was working fine on the IIS 6 server until the php upgrade from 5.2.x to 5.3.9.

I am in the process of trying to move the site to an Apache server but it would be helpful if it is a simple issue to continue with the site on the IIS 6 server until I am able to code up some specific features so we don't have to pay for 2 hosting services.

Whilst it may have worked for you on IIS 6 it was certainly not tested on the same nor any consideration given to it in the development - and probably it is not supported in any significant way by by MS anymore. That is why the MTR specified IIS 7 or better. You will need to research with php.net whether there are any known compatibility issues with the combination (although their answer might be the same).

Perhaps also check any known issues with Extension developers that you have used products from as there may be issues from their side that could interfere.

I am certainly not saying that any of this is the actual cause just trying to "brainstorm" with my few cells as to why. ;)

Edit :

also check what, if anything, may have been deprecated/changed significantly in the PHP release itself between the two versions of PHP and whether the host has made any changes to their configuration even by mistake.

EDIT II Not sure how well it runs on IIS but please run the Forum Post Assistant to provide the information to try and help us resolve the issue.
