I'm currently building a website and basically learning Joomla as I go along. I was in the middle of changing some parameters on a module when my PC inexplicably crashed/shutdown.

Now when I try to log in to my administrator backend all I get is a blank white screen. I've searched and searched and everytime I find something about this, the workarounds mentioned don't work.

I've found my error log and it constantly repeats the same thing (with different dates/times): PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined method JDocumentOpensearch::getHeadData() in ...../public_html/libraries/joomla/cache/cache.php on line 502 [24-Feb-2012 07:19:53]


Everything was working fine until my PC crashed, the frontend of the site is still there working fine. Somebody please help coz this is doing my head in and I don't want to have to start from scratch again!

Try setting

public $caching = '0';

in the configuration.php file then if that lets you in, clear all caches before enabling it again.

If the same error occurs at different times and you've never experienced this issue before, it's likely unrelated, I'd say. Do the times relate to when you try to get to the admin page, or are they from earlier times?

Ensure JavaScript is enabled and working correctly on your browser. Having it disabled can lead to a blank admin page.

Also, as BYGino said, clear cashe is always a good idea :)

The PC crashing possibly corrupted some files if the site is on localhost. Download the Joomla full package(of the same version you have). Unzip the files and overwrite the core files on your Joomla. All except the /installation folder
