Hi,

have just upgraded my webshop from Joomla 2.5.1. to 2.5.6. and wanted to fix the database. At this point the whole website collapsed, there is no access to the front-end nor to the Admin area, and also visitors can only read this message:

"Warning: require_once(/home/www/html/Joomla/libraries/cms/cmsloader.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/www/html/Joomla/libraries/cms.php on line 18

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/www/html/Joomla/libraries/cms/cmsloader.php' (include_path='/usr/local/php/lib/php:.') in /home/www/html/Joomla/libraries/cms.php on line 18"

Do you have any idea how to restore my website?

Thanks a lot ;)

Restore from the backup you took before attempting to upgrade to J2.5.6. You do have one?

If not, you can try taking a fresh download of J2.5.6 and extracting it to a folder on your local PC. Delete the installation folder and then upload the rest by FTP over the top of the files on your server. This might replace any missing or corrupt files. After doing so you might have to go to Extension Manager > Database> Fix and run it.

Hi,
backup was too young and corrupted so I could not use it.

Have uploaded full version of J2.5.6 as proposed by you but nothing has changed. The fatal error messages still reign my frontpage and cannot access Admin.

All theese problems occured as I upgraded earlier and wanted to fix the database.

Any suggestions?

Have you checked that those files are present and are readable?

One more information to the collapse:

after upgrading from J2.5.4 to J2.5.6 and before trying to fix the database, there were many messages:
"Database schema version (2.5.4-2012-03-19) doesnot match CMS-version (2.5.6)."

After clicking the "Fix"-button, the whole website collapsed.

The issue is that php is not allowed/able to open /home/www/web359/html/Joomla/libraries/cms/cmsloader.php

It can be cause by the open basedir is set on the server.
Register Globals should also be off.

Have you talked to your host provider about it?

On the same server, under the same root, just in a subdirectory I have another webshop (same SW, same structure) which works perfectly, even after upgrading to J2.5.6.

So I supposed, the problem is not with the server settings and have not contacted my host provider so far.

I am a novice in DB/server questions but is it possible that the server settings have changed for my corrupted webshop but are unchanged for the good webshop?

The file cmsloader.php does not seem to exist in J2.5.6, certainly not at /libraries/cms, which does suggest file corruption which the overwrite with a clean package should have fixed.
You seem to have two topics running on this viewtopic.php?f=625&p=2861851

Note to Mod: can they be merged please?

How did you upgrade this site?

Hi, Abernity

Joomla 2.5.1 was offered by the software centre of the hosting partner, have used it in 4 websites.

The hosting partner requested me to upgrade for security reasons to J2.5.6.
Have downloaded latest official Update-version from the Joomla site to my local PC and from it it was installed via Extension Manager of the sites. It has worked in 3 (technically) similar websites but failed at this very one with a fatal error message for the .../libraries/login.php file. At this time the frontpage was intact only the Admin area was not to access.
Have been suggested to download the full version J2.5.6 and upload it by FTP. Have done it, two times, but no help. After a small change in this file also the back-end acces seemed to work.

But by clicking the database FIX button, this site collapsed, with the messages cited in my first notice.

What change did you make to give you Admin access?

Right after upgrading to J2.5.6 have lost access to my Admin area, after login there was a message: "Fatal error: Call to undefined method JSession::checktoken() in /home/www/ html/Joomla/administrator/components/com_login/controller.php on line 52".

Have got a suggestion to change "JSession::" to "JRequest::" on line 52. This has helped, the frontpage and webshop have worked correctly.

Now I wanted to fix the database -- and the site collapsed.

Since that I have 2 times uploaded J2.5.6 full package but no help.

If you have hacked a core file to get the Administration area to show after your first upgrade then that file will have been overwritten by the subsequent upload of the full package.
I have no idea of the effect of the change that you made with JSession and JRequest as they are quite different calls.
You might try that hack to controller.php again and see what happens. I am not a great fan of core hacks unless I know what the implications are.
The webshop you use is now out of date and no longer under development. I have no idea if that is an issue here.

By good luck my hosting partner had an older security backup for the whole of the server and could use it for restoring my collapsed website, so it has been working again already for an hour.

Anyhow, I would like to thank all of you for the help and suggestions in this curious case !
