Hello, I'm new to this forum but not totally new to Joomla, although definitely not an expert.

Over time I was building and updating my Joomla 2.5 site using the Beez_20 as a default template. I installed various extensions and plugins to improve the site with no issues. However, after installing the iJoomla SEO extension, I developed problems with the site. It wreaked havoc with the Beez_20 template. After lots of research and comms with iJoomla SEO support, I decided to duplicate my website on my server using these instructions: http://www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/c ... -25-or-15/

I was able to make a duplicate test copy of my site in a separate folder on my server and after installing a new template on the duplicate site, the bugs that caused problems to the Beez_20 template after installing iJoomla SEO disappeared. The front end of the main site now works fine. However, I now have issues on the back end of my main site in the administrator panels. There is a lot of gibberish, and it is quite confusing, for example in the Global Configuration panel a menu reads "JSite" where it should read "Site" and another reads "mod_menu_com_users_users" where it should read just "users". The gibberish is all over the back-end of the site........

Any ideas how to rectify this? Thanks!

Hi,

It looks like something went wrong with language management. you can check the following by comparing both of your old and newly copied site for the difference.

1) Site -> language manager
2) <joomla root>\administrator\language\* - compare the files exists over here.
3) Clear your browser cache.

Since you have another working copy, hope you can find the issue easily.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion on what to check. I checked the files as suggested and the \administrator\language file of the site in question is quite different than the \administrator\language file viewed from a recent backup of the site that my web host did before the problem arose. Would I be able to just replace the \administrator\language file in question with the backup file?

Thanks

Hi,

Yes you can replace if you can identify the changes you have done after the backup is taken. Also as sanity check you can verify whether you have the string 'mod_menu_com_users_users' in your backup file. Have a backup of your production file before replacing them.

Hello,

Thanks for your help!! Where would I find the string 'mod_menu_com_users_users' in my backup file? I moved the language file from my web host backup to the testsite and it cleared up the back end! No more gibberish! I went all through the testsite, front end and back end and there are a couple of minor issues:

1. Icons are missing - all the green published/red unpublished icons under the status columns in the article manager, module manager, plugin manager, default template and the icon at "use URL rewriting" in global config are all missing.

2. The media manager has its contents, however the folders & images are laid out quite differently in the finder.

Any ideas?
Thanks again!

Hi,

Please check the following location. <<Joomla root>>/administrator/templates/<<your template name>>/images/admin/

It should have tick.png for the tick mark.

Maybe you can check/compare all files in that folder with your backup.

Hi,

When I go down the path to: <<Joomla root>>/administrator/templates/<<your template name>>/images/admin/

I can go as far as /images/ where there is an "rtl" file folder, a "tools" folder and a bunch of png images, but no /admin/ in the images folder.........??

Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hi,

Were you able to compare images folder in your system with your backup?

I may just do a restore of the site from a backup. Seems like there are just too many bugs to deal with.............
