"Articles" appearing at head of page????
I have a small number of pages which are accessed by links rather than through a menu. When you land on one of these pages the word "Articles" appears above the page title.
I have tried all sorts of variables in the Options area, trying to get rid of this word, but can't.
Advice welcomed.
Edit ~ After a couple of hundred views and no response, perhaps the questions I should ask are; Can this be changed and if so how?

Re: "Articles" appearing at head of page????
Hi mrfez!
Questions for you:
What Joomla! version you have?
Have you modified core Joomla! files, ie. are you using overrides in your template? If using one of the original templates, check also whether you have modified index.php.
I couldn't replicate your issue, but a few things pop into my mind despite. Are you sure that your link is pointing to an article and not category?
If none of above provides any clue, I'd suggest that you check what html tag(s) surrounds the troubled part and then proceed from there by trying to find similar pattern in the source code. That is, if it's not a setting in the parameters, it could be a change in the source. Firefox extension Firebug is your friend.
And before you edit anything remember to backup first - I'd recommend very warmly AkeebaBackup for that.
And please note that I'm just another user like yourself, not an expert - so don't expect too much

If you don't have a menu ID on a link, that is exactly what you get. You have two solutions:
1. Create a menu link for each article in a new men
uy you can call "Hidden". Do not create a module for the menu. Use those links you just created in place of the ones you now have.
2. Use a language override for Article and blank it out.

Re: "Articles" appearing at head of page????
Thanks Guys
Ripley ~ I'm using Joomla 2.5.22 which has not been changed in any way. Yes it is an article, currently with an uncategorised category.
dhuelsmann ~ I have created the hidden menu as suggested and sadly there was no change to the result. Here is a link to my page so you can see what I mean
http://www.learnphotography.org.au/inde ... icle&id=90 (The page is only a draft of the finished item).
If I create a live menu item then Article disappears but as soon as the menu item is hidden then its back to square one.
I'm not sure what you mean by language override. The 'offending' word is only visible on the published page, not in the article manager. Could you please elaborate?
Thanks again
Dave

Make sure that the menu link is published on the hidden menu and that you use THAT link to direct towards your article.mrfez wrote:dhuelsmann ~ I have created the hidden menu as suggested and sadly there was no change to the result. Here is a link to my page so you can see what I mean
Every word used in Joomla has an equivalent language string. A language string is composed of two parts: a specific language constant and its value.mrfez wrote:I'm not sure what you mean by language override. For example, in the string:
COM_CONTENT_READ_MORE="Read more: "
'COM_CONTENT_READ_MORE' is the constant and 'Read more: ' is the value. In your case, the language string is ARTICLE="Article". Go into language manager -> Overides -> New -> Language Constant -> ARTICLE -> Text -> blank or space whichever works -> save

Re: "Articles" appearing at head of page????
Hi
Thanks for all the sound advice, which I have implemented but sadly again, no change.
dhuelsmann ~ I have created the hidden menu and published the link (but not the menu). I have also used language override for Article and Articles both with and without a blank space, all without effect.
Looks like I might have to put up with it.
Thanks anyway

Both the Menu and the Menu Items must be published. It's the Module that shall not be published.

How about a link to your website and the page where your link in question is first listed.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. I wanted to see the page where you inserted the link leading to that page.

Re: "Articles" appearing at head of page????
Hi dhuelsmann ~ Sorry, I created this page with a view to it becoming a promotion, the link will eventually be placed on an external (commercial) site, which I have no access to.
However, just for this, I have created a temporary link which can be found at the bottom of this page, click on "Test Link" at the bottom.
http://www.learnphotography.org.au/inde ... Itemid=186
The link I have supplied is the link that was created in the menu item which I created as per your instructions.
Hope this helps

Menu item links have an Itemid at the end. Yours does not. Are you sure you have provided the entire menu item link that you created?

Looks like I gave you the wrong language string to create and override for. The correct language string is JGLOBAL_ARTICLES.

You will not see the entire link in Menu Manager. You have to add &Itemid=xx, where xx is the id of the Menu Item.mrfez wrote:The link is as it appears in the menu manager. See attached.
