Article ordering on the rront page.

I am working with the Fruit shop example in the new V1.6 release.

I've created 3 new articles in a new category that I want to replace the articles on the front page. The articles have been created and they now replace the original articles, as I've made the 3 new article the only featured articles. The original articles still exist, but are no longer featured. My 3 new articles appear on the front page, but they do not appear in the order specified in the "Ordering" list shown by the article manager. In fact, changes made to the "Ordering" list position numbers seem to have absolutely no effect on the ordering that I see on the front page. The article that I want to see at the top remains at the bottom, no matter what I do.

The ordering numbers in the article list doesn't seem to be the only thing that affects the order of articles on the front page. What else do I need to change to set the desired article order??

Yes I have the problem.
The articles appear in their own order no matter what I try.

Joomla version 1.5 did allow the articles to be sorted in the order required, but this facility seems to be missing in Joomla version 1.6

Help to solve this would be much appreciated.

It's still there. Go to the menu item fro the frontpage.

Under Layout options, set Article Order=Featured Articles Order

To order them: Content->Article manager->Featured Articles

Click on Order at the heading to sort on that column. Now up and down arrows will appear. Sort in you preferred order and press the dic at the heading to save.

Where do you find "menu items for the frontpage"?

I've not seen any explicit frontpage management in 1.6.

It's the menu item usually called "Home"

Menus->Main Menu->Home

The frontpage management (it's called featured articles in 1.6)

Content->Article manager->Featured Articles

For the sake of completeness I will add that in order to actually adjust your article order you need to set focus on the ORDERING column once you are in the FEATURED ARTICLES section. You'll have little happyfuntime trying to set them manually without first clicking on the heading (you'll see the little "disk" dingbat appear then).
