SELECTING CATAGORY OR ADD/EDIT CATERGORY GIVES BLANK PAGE

I have recently come back to Joomla. I loaded 1.7.0 perfectly. Problem is when I try to add a catagory then I land up on a blank page. When I load sample data and try to add or edit a catagory, I land up on a blank page. Any ideas. I am on a power mac 10.4.11 using mamp.

Articles are fine, but categories are not and more frustratingly I cannot get an error message.

Im surprised there arnt more of these queries. Would it make a diff what system we using. Are you also using a mac.

In Global Configuration set Error Report Level=Maximum to get an error message.

Tried that. The save and close does not work either.

still no error report. I did however discover with help from another thread, the following. I systematically went through the plugins. These caused blank pages on Catagory Edit and Global config. I will repeat this on its own thread as I think it needs to come to everyones attention.

System - Cache
System - Language Filter

Edit configuration.php manually if you cannot do it in Joomla.
