My client wants a portion of the website to be restricted to members, however these pages should still show up in the menu to encourage people to login/register. I've been following the instructions in this tutorial: http://docs.joomla.org/Auto_redirect_guests_to_login
However, when trying to access restricted content, instead of being redirected to the login page, I'm redirected to the home page. Have I missed a step somewhere?

I'm using Joomla 2.5

Thanks in advance.

edit ... thought maybe I should include a URL:
http://XXXXXXX/index.php

So it seemed that when I went back and was testing if I was using the hidden menu as described above, the user (whether logged in or not) was being redirected to the home page. So now my method is to simply make the article "restricted" and the menu item "public". However, if a user who has not logged in is attempting to access a page that is restricted, they are still sent to the home page rather than the login page.

I would love some ideas about this! I'm getting quite desperate. I really want users who are not logged in to be sent to the login page.

Thanks!

I finally deleted the article and all associated menu items and started again. Now it works perfectly.

Phew!!
