Hi,

I can't edit modules or plugins in Joomla 2.5. If I tick the checkbox or any modules or plugins then choose EDIT, I just get 'bounced' back to the module or plugin list.

I have tried checking in and out multiple times (a process I still don't quite get).

All that happens is that the padlock appears, disappears, appears, disappears, etc.

I have tried logging in as both super admins on the account.

Both are suffering from the same problem.

Can anyone help please? I'm going round in circles. Literally!

Thanks,
Dom

Try using a different web browser (eg Chrome, Firefox, ..)

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that and encountered the same problem.

I still can't edit anything.

I *can* install things but when I installed Akeeba and tried to open the program under Components > Akeeba, it did not run. Instead, the page kept looping before it could fully load. This went on forever. It looks like another possible symptom of the problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dom

I found this under Extension Manager > Warnings: "The PHP temporary directory is the directory that PHP uses to store an uploaded file before Joomla! can access this file. Whilst the directory not being set isn't always a problem, if you are having issues with manifest files not being detected or uploaded files not being detected, setting this in your php.ini file might fix the issue."

Could this have anything to do with it?

If so, I'm not a coder. Can someone talk me through how to set this up?

Many thanks,
Dom

1/ Contact your hosting to fix your problem

2/ Watch the video clip here: http://joomtut.com/joomla-clip/83-copyi ... -host.html

In this video you will be instructed how to declare the correct path to the tmp directory of Joomla!

I found out that on three separate occasions, when my site was cloned permissions were changed to 777. This created a security issue that locked the backend. I don't know why this happened. On one occasion, they were both in the same public_html folder. On another occasion, they were on different servers. So it seems to be some sort of Joomla issue. Though not technically solved, I've marked this as solved since I at least know what the problem was.
