I am having a curious problem with my installation of Joomla 2.5.7 hosted on InMotionHosting.com. I installed it several weeks ago, but haven't started to use it until this week.
I have two computers that I use to develop with; one is a Dell Desktop running Windows 7 and the other is a laptop running Windows XP. When I access the site's Admin login with the W7 machine running Firefox 16.0.2 I have no problem logging in. However, when I try to log in from my laptop, also with Firefox 16.0.2, I am just returned to the login screen with the field's previous entries blanked out. There is no evidence of an error or that anything went wrong.
Has anyone run into this problem before? Is there a solution?
Thanks,
Jonathan

Re: Admin Access problems with XP?
I wouldn't think Windows version would make any difference. I use Inmotion Hosting as well without any issues, and jump back and forth between XP and 7 all the time. If you try using a different browser on your laptop (IE or Chrome), what happens?

Have you tried clearing the cookies and temporary files from the browser?JEofVA wrote:However, when I try to log in from my laptop, also with Firefox 16.0.2, I am just returned to the login screen with the field's previous entries blanked out. To toivo:
I have removed all cookies and history (not sure about the temp files) but there is no change with my admin access attempts using Firefox.
To numinousmedia:
I can successfully access the admin section with both Chrome and IE.

Hmm... I'd guess there's an Add-on in FF on your laptop that's causing problems. For example, I use the NoScript addon, and unless I tell it to ignore scripts and cookies on Joomla sites, it can make logging in very difficult or impossible. I'd check on your addons. If nothing else... you could uninstall FF, and then reinstall with a fresh download from the FF site.

numinousmedia,
I think that did it. I found an extension, HTTPS Everywhere, that once disabled allowed me to get into the Admin area. With any luck the problem won't reoccur because I'm loathe to give up Firebug, FireFTP, or FirePHP. We'll see...
Thanks again for your expertise,

I'm the same way. I have too many awesome addons in Firefox that I use to ever give it up. Glad you figured it out.
