My website also got stuck on 2.5.6 after some succesfull updates from within Administrator earlier. Been trying all kinds off stuff but no luck yet...
Anybody here knows what to do? (Staying at 2.5.6 can become/is a security hazard.)

Go to extension manager > Purge cache> find updates should do the trick

I've tried everything multiple times exept:

Quote:
Then FTP these files to the root directory of your site, overwriting the existing files.

Now* I'm going to do that and hope it'll work out. Still I think it very stressfull and hope never to have to 'upgrade' this way again. Stress levels certainly go up when you've got a website with a lot of content and visitors.

*(I just did and luckily the site is still there...2.5.9)
