I would strongly advise to use SP Upgrade. http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... tion/15609 Cost minimal money but your migration (it is NOT an upgrade since the codebase is completely changed) is done in a nutshell AND you can migrate straight to Joomla 3.3.3 (!) Note J25 End Of Life is December next! I also advise NOT to use jUpgrade since that is one piece of horrendous crap!

Re: How to migrate Joomla 1.5.15 to 2.5?
Do you have any other advice or words of wisdom in using the SP Upgrade? I am brand new to Joomla, website maintenance etc. I have inherited a website that is currently using Joomla version 1.5.18 and have been told by hosting platform that I must upgrade to a new server which will require upgrading Joomla. Can I really migrate from 1.5.18 to current version in 1 step? All help is greatly appreciated!

i agree with leo on using SPUpgrade and to skip 2.5 and go straight to 3.x.
i believe to use SPUpgrade you need to be running Joomla 1.5.22+. but besides that, you can go from 1.5 to 3. one step? not really. you need to plan very carefully. it's a breeze to bring over Joomla core extensions and images. i would *not* try to bring your template. just pick a new one that is responsive and install it after you finish migrating the data. i like rockettheme. i think leo is partial to yootheme.
you need to look at each and every third-party extension you have running on the 1.5 site. determine if you still need it. can you use core functionality instead?
think of migration as moving to a new house. you take some furniture with you, you get rid of some furniture and maybe buy new furniture that fits into the new house better. assess your goals, etc. plan. plan. plan. read. read. read. then execute. and make sure you have a backup.
also check the technical specs for Joomla 3 and make sure your host can handle it. no better time than during a migration to change hosts too. http://www.joomla.org/about-joomla/tech ... ments.html

Partial correct perception. I do like YT because it's framework is so light weight and RT is imho very heavy and loads like a heavy lifter. I do agree that Gantry is very versatile as is Warp (YT). So yes I do advise Warp (see UIkit) over Gantry for the reasons stated but we do develop based on client preferences.jgress- wrote: i like rockettheme. i think leo is partial to yootheme.

thank you for sharing this. now i can have an accurate perception. (not bad though considering our limited communication.) jennleolam wrote:Partial correct perception.
