Admin back end-save/close/cancel buttons not working
I have used the admin 'update' component in joomla 1.7.x to update to joomla 2.5.7.
Everything updated with no errors.
Afterwards, I first had the dreaded "Please make a selection from the list" error.
After reading the forums I installed a plugin which took care of the missing "adminForm" ID bug.
when I open any article / module / template etc etc all the admin menu buttons for "save" , "save & new", "save & close", "save as copy" or "close" do not work. No errors - no blank page - they just do not action anything on click.
(see screenshot below)
The buttons work in the "top" level of the admin - but not when any admin content is open for editing.
I have done all the things suggested regarding database-fix + purge the various caches.
Installed/uninstalled a new JCK editor - uninstalled all non-core components & plugins etc etc.
To no avail.
PLEASE HELP - customer waiting.

Re: Admin back end-save/close/cancel buttons not working
have also tried different browsers - chrome 22, IE9, Firefox with the same result.
After using the update component, I have also tried a complete re-install using FTP to put all the complete pckage instead of using the update patches.
With the same result.
here is my OS PHP ad MySQL versions
Is this a Java / javascript issue in the admin back end of joomla 2.5.7 - or a core script issue in Joomla 2.5.7?

Re: Admin back end-save/close/cancel buttons not working
I change " public $live_site" in configuration.php to
public $live_site = 'http://www.mydomain.com';
and it works. My global configuration page in not messed up any more and all the buttons work .

Re: Admin back end-save/close/cancel buttons not working
SOLVED!!
I made sure the database was fixed - and Joomla 2.5.x tables were made correctly by the native 'Update' component of Joomla v2.5.x.
But the problem with 'save' buttons persisted.
I disabled the "ID=adminForm" fix plugin.
This brought back the "Please select an item from the list " error.
As a last resort I decided to do a full overwrite of the Joomla CMS v2.5.7.
I downloaded the JOOMLA FULL INSTALL PACKAGE zip file of v2.5.7 to my PC - extracted it - and did a full re-install of the whole CMS using FTP to 'put' the files and overwrite the CMS.
I was very careful NOT TO COPY THE "INSTALLATION" directory, to my site root.
This did the trick by updating the javascript files - and removing the "Please select an item....." bug , but the admin 'save' buttons would STILL NOT work
until I completely removed the original plugin to fix the 'select item' error
NOW ALL THE BUTTONS WORK. NO ERRORS at all.
Moral of the story:-
Don't rely on the native 'Update' Component in v2.5 (which uses Patches) to update joomla.
The Upgrade component does at least upgrade the Database tables.
Do a full upgrade using the complete install zip package and FTP to 'put' the files to make sure ALL THE FILES are the correct version.

Re: Admin back end-save/close/cancel buttons not working
Solved mine by editing the .httaccess file and removed 'SetHandler application/...' codes or its like which treats java files as php
Try to Remember what you were doing before the problem started to fix this.

Re: Admin back end-save/close/cancel buttons not working
For me this was solved by emptying browser cache. CTRL-F5 in Firefox.
Although it took me quite some time and surfing to find that out...
This article helped: http://www.hotjoomlatemplates.com/blog/ ... no-buttons
