After a fresh install of 2.5.4 I attempted to access the login in page for the backend of my site. I get a completely blank page with nothing (no words, html, etc.).

I can access the frontend but the backend does not work.

PLEASE HELP!

http://deercreek.net46.net

THANK YOU!

Actually, it is not a blank page. Following HTML code is rendered.
Code:
<!-- www.[url banned].com Analytics Code -->

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://analytics.hosting24.com/count.php"></script>

<noscript><a href="http://www.hosting24.com/"><img src="http://analytics.hosting24.com/count.php" alt="web hosting" /></a></noscript>

<!-- End Of Analytics Code -->

Suggest checking with your host service provider about this.

I have checked with the host. They told me it is a joomla error and they have received multiple "tickets" for this. I have dealt with this 3 times now on different hosts only after upgrading to 2.5.4.

I also have a friend who upgraded to 2.5.4 experiencing the same problem on a different host.

Hi,

I found a solution and worked on most of my websites.
You need to do teh following

Go to http://www.yoursite.nl/administrator/?option=com_login
Log in as super user
Go to global configuration
The tab permissions
Under public change all to not set.
Save and log off

It should work now. I only had one occasion where I couldn't login and the backend anymore.
After palcing the backup back everything worked

Thank you for the suggestion but I had tried that previously (as mentioned in another forum). I still get a blank screen when I add administrator/?option=com_login to the end of my site name.

Any other ideas.

Please provide full details of the hosts software versions for the server and database.
When installing Joomla did your host meet all the criteria on the pre-installation check page?
When installing - do you upload the Joomla software to the host or is it a package that they make available for you to use?
Try installing J2.5.3 and then upgrading.
Initially try installing Joomla! with the example content.

These is what I found.
PHP version 5.2.
MySQL ver. 5.1

When installing, all of the criteria were met when looking at the pre-installation check page.
When installing, I used a FTP to upload files to the server. After that was finished I went through the installation and got through that with no problems. I just could not access the backend when getting through the installation.

Review of the document http://docs.joomla.org/Joomla_2.5_version_history would be of help.

I do not know why you want to go with 2.5.3 - the latest version is 2.5.4.

also on your local pc assuming you are on Windows OS do not use Windows own archive manager to unzip or FTP the files to the server - use something like 7-Zip and then WinSCP - I use these personally, both are open source and free.

Edit: Just looked and there is now a login screen which is an improvement :)

I was able to install 2.5.3 with no problems. So I think it was a bug with 2.5.4.

@yerg
If you have the same problem then I would suggest checking your site with http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/scanner/
