Hello tried to upgrade Joomla 2.5.1 to 2.5.4 from my Cpanel which I use all the time but after upgrading when I try to access the admin login panel I get an error message "includes/framework.php on line 35"

I reverted back to backup copy of my 2.5.1 and I can get into admin panel (backend) but as before the save article button does not work that is why I wanted to upgrade as soon as possible. Ialso tried to upgrade from Joomla backend but I get Copy failed message, I tried clearing the cahe etc etc but no luck.

Can anyone point me to the right solution and what I need to do? I am using
Apache version 2.2.21, PHP version 5.3.8, MySQL version 5.1.61-cll

Good to hear that you have a back-up!

When having such problems, I would:
download the latest version of Joomla full package (which is 2.5.4),
unzip it at a local PC,
use FTP (FileZilla) to manually upload all files + directories (except the /installation/ directory) and overwriting all current files.

After that I would try to login, and under Extensions > Extension Manager > [Database]
I would check if the database table structure is up to date (and use "Fix" if not).

How did you revert back ? Did you delete everything and upload a backup ?

What is happening when you try to log in ?

I managed to get in by going to PHP Myadmin (Joomla User). The database did have problem which was fixed using ("Fix Database") The control panel shows correct version of Joomla and all extensions are reporting to be uptodate but I still can't save or edit articles as the Save button does not function.

Cache was cleared and purged but still no save button fnction.

My CPanel automatically makes a backup when I upgrade and if the upgrade has a problem the Cpanel allows me to revert back to previous version, it deletes and installs files automatically.

I am able to login now but the save button does not work when saving an article.

What editor are you using ? Is it a 3rd party extension ? If so is it up to date ?

Also try the 'Discover' tab.

Also set a standard default Template for the front end.(custom front end Templates can effect admin functions).

The default template in use was created in Artisteer, strangely though when using Firefox the save button works ok.

The problem was reported by my customer he is aware that copy and paste from MS Word can only be done by using the "Copy from Word" icon/feature. I took him through the do's and don'ts I will ask him again though?

The URL of the site is http://www.cambridgemodelaircraftclub.co.uk/

Strange how people don't listen ... looks like extra code to me ? (unless it was created by the editor in the Article edit screen)

If it is the customer who is having the problem it is them that need to make the Posts. So that they do not get the messages 3rd hand. Unless of course you are testing their site to see what is wrong ... in which case:
Set a standard Template as default and see if saving in the backend works
Try with different Browsers.

I understand what you are saying, however if the customer was web savvy he would have installed his own and I wouldn't have a business.

As a website provider I troubleshoot any problems albeit in this case it happens to be Joomla with over 34 Joomla customer websites out there I would think I stand a better chance of resolving the issue then a customer who only knows how to login and make a couple of chages.

Thank you for your help so far anyway.

That's because you have your second custom Template Assigned to All menu items. So it is overriding the default settings.

The problem you reported in your Original Posts does not happen for me. Your secondary problem is caused by incorrect settings of in the Template manager.

Thank you for your valuable time. Very strange because the problem occurs on 4 different PC's. I will look at the the custom template problem and see if I can resolve this issue.

As for the custom Template being assigned to all menu items just un-tick(un-check) the boxes.
