Hello gurus and superheroes

I am having difficulty installing Akkeba 3.5.1 on joomlas 2.5.4
Joomla says my files is broken
Akeebas says this:
\
Please note that there are some known Joomla! installer bugs which may affect upgrades and clean installations. The two most common are a. the Akeeba Backup icon disappearing from the Components menu and b. Akeeba Backup not working because some files/folders were not copied during the upgrade. Both of those issues are caused by known issues in the Joomla! extensions installer and can not be addressed by us. We are working on debugging them and submitting relevant patches to the Joomla! project for inclusion in future Joomla! releases."

Im wondering if its possible to move forward at all because i want Akeeba backup on my site before adding anything else!

I am on my own computer using MAMP Lite, not the latest MAMP and despite it being low on memory this does not seem to be the problem.

Im tempted to go back to Joomlas 1.5 ....

Does anyone know of any fixes please?

Thanks for your reference and your hard work on a fix.
I will have a go at some of what you suggest and get back later.

Hi again
I went to Akeeba and read quite a bit about this problem and then decided the fixes were all too hard for me especially as the second fix directed me to remove a few joomla specific files fromm different directories.

Well, the main reason i wanted akeeba was for the ability to update joomla automaticallu and fix permissions easily and i now see that these two functions were now in joomla 2.5.

So perhaps i can leave this one for now.

Thanks for your help.

My issue is quite different. I can get it to install on 2.5.4 and perform a backup. But if I use any other akeeba control panel option i get the modal window that says:

No input file specified

And after that noting works in Joomla - every function i try yields the same response:

No input file specified

I have to exit and wait for the cache to clear - even clearing the browser cache fails to correct the situation. Once the Joomla cache is cleared. It all works again.

If I do not touch Akeeba everything is fine.

DUH!!!!
I uninstalled it.

Bill
