Error loading component: com_joomlaupdate, 1

I get this message in Joomla 2.5.6 after clicking "Joomla is up to date" icon.
I would like to fix this in preparation for the 3.0 release.
How?

Is the title the complete error that you receive? If not please post the whole thing

First things first.

1. Got to the Extensions Manager=>Discover tab
   1. CLICK Discover
   2. If Update Extension discovered select it and
   3. CLICK Install
2. Make sure the database has been updated to reflect the changes from the update(s)
   1. Go to the Extensions=>Extension Manager->Database tab
   2. CLICK the Fix button (top right toolbar).
3. Also , make sure that you clear the Joomla cache files.
   1. Go to Extensions=>Extension Manager->Updates tab
   2. CLICK Purge Cache
4. Report back with the outcome.

Side Note:
Why are you even contemplating J3.0. I guess you are not a developer or Joomla tester and early adopters should really know what they are doing as early releases can be problematical.
J3.0 is a Short term release whereas 2.5 is the current long-term release and support continues for it until 2014. So it is probably in your interest not to jump on 3.0 except for personal testing and enjoyment until it is fully tested and established.

Occasionally this will not achieve the desired result and some users have found that when they CLICK Discover and the JUpdate extension is identified if they then CLICK Options, then waiting for the page to resolve, which it often does not, they CLICK the browser Back button this somehow resolves the issues automagically? Not personally experienced this so cannot confirm or deny!

1. Extensions Manager=>Discover tab No extensions found
2. Extensions manager Database manager: 6 problems found. They were all fixed using the fix tab
3. I did Extension manager/Updates/Purge cache

But the original error is still there when clicking on the Icon Joomla is up to date in the control panel, see attached screen dump.


Side note: Yes I agree with you: Any first time major release should be installed with care and that we will do sometime during autumn, but first in a test copy.

1. BACKUP YOUR SITE AND DATABASE
2. Download the latest Full Stable Joomla Package.
3. Extract the archive locally
4. Upload all the files and directories (except the installation/ directory) usin FTP client set to Binary file transfer type
5. Overwrite the current files on the host KEEP THE SAME FILE HIERARCHY
6. Repeat the steps in my previous post.

I did as suggested: After backup I loaded a full joomla 2.5.6 installation on top of the files overwriting all files. After that I did as was suggested earlier.

The error message is still there exactly as before.

Just to verify go to extensions=>manage and enter Joomla! Update in the search filter. Is it there and is it enabled? (Should just show with a padlock in the status column).
Otherwise, as there is no actual update for versions above 2.5.6, it may just be an anomaly of error reporting and until you next get an update to test it against it will be difficult to establish whether there is an actual problem or not. I cannot replicate the issue with any of my server installations. Are you using default language pack and a default Admin template?

I am also concerned that the status of the Quick icon does not show in your image either, all this points to some other issues.

Database tables prefix_extension for com_joomlaupdate. Should be ID 28. I have exported the database to a sql file and can not find the string com_joomlaupdate. I should probably do this differently. HOW?

com_joomlaupdate is present in the file system (highlighted in green above) but if there is not trace of it in the database this is why it is not functioning as it is not installed.

You should just view the tables in the database using phpMyAdmin that way you are not likely to lose it in a mass of code and markup script.

Also a little concerned at the "unknown" reference highlighted in red. It might be a reference to something from an earlier version of Joomla that is no longer applicable or it might (possibly) be something that really should not be there at all. (although reviewing your extensions further it might be another of the JCE plugins?)

So, this boils down to the the component com_joomlaupdate is wrong.

I have once again installaled the full 2.5.7 package (without the installation folder) on top after the upgrade to 2.5.7, but the problem is still there. Everything seems to be working including making update.

It there a way to reinstall just the com_joomlaupdate?
