Tried turning off and on SEF and URL rewrite. I do have an htaccess with a large number of 301's but have stepped through those

You probably created the database yourself and didn't let Joomla create it. Now it needs to be converted to UTF8.

I created the database from a export of the existing database. Does your thought still apply?

That was also missing the relevant information on UTF8. Added it.

I have converted the database and I notice it's now a mix of tables that are UTF and LatinSwedish. Will this affect it?
There has been no change in the 404. I should also state that this is only happening on 2 menu items. It's not across the board.

Could very well be, not all tables contain text fields.

The FPA shows imbibemagazine.com/public as the path but imbibemagazine.com/ appears to be working OK ?

Imbibemagazine.com is working ok. It is the original site running 1.5 (in 1.0 legacy mode) imbibe.roguecoding.com is the future home and lives in imbibemagazine.com/public. It has the issues and is running 2.5.8 (Although the site is currently down so that I can try the 1.5 version of the site there to see if it is an issue with the version or the environment.

After restoring a copy of the 1.5 version on the new server, it displays the same 404 erros as the 2.5.8 version. Could this be an environment issue? Permissions?
