Actions Taken To Resolve by Forum Post Assistant (v1.2.4) 1st November 2015 wrote:

Note: Before attempting the update, had backed up with Akeeba.
Checked site using FTP;
Server usage down from 11.72 to 3.35 GB showing serious loss of data.
Many files in folders show zero bytes size including index.php and error.php
Akeeba backup files show zero bytes too!
Checked SQL database;
Many NULL entries
Raised ticket with Acymailing;
They say carrying out an update cannot delete files.
Decided to raise a ticket on the Joomla forum

I'm sure the loss of data was caused by the wiping out of Acymailing stats.

Were you able to restore your website from your host's backup? If not, do you have Akeeba backups lurking on your machine somewhere that you can use to restore your website?

In any case, I think the problem isn't that dramatic, try to disable, in phpMyAdmin, all the plugins that are related to Acymailing and you should be OK, and then you can fix the AcyMailing issue.

Thank you, Hero, but whatever happended reduced most of my files to zero bytes, including the backups and the last backups on my machine seem to have expired too. Luckily, there is a complete copy of the site in a "saved" fodler from Decmeber 2014 when I attempted a Joomla 3 update, so we are reverting to that and biting the bullet on the work involved in bringing it up to date.

I tried renaming all AcyMailing folders to prevent them from being involved but my index.php file was reduced to zero bytes and I don't seem to be able to get back in, no matter what I try. The config.php file seem OK, so I switched error reportng on and to maximum but still nothing.

All my module and component files have been reduced to zero bytes, so I fear there is nothing to be done - unless you have a brainwave!

Thanks for your suggestions.

Regards,
David

If you're using WHM for hosting, try to see if there is a newer backup under the /backup folder (or under the /home/backup folder).

In any case, it's really important to find out how all of this happened to avoid it in the future.
