Is this possible?

A single module to be displayed in "Sidebar A" on all pages. When a page is selected from the main menu, this module (set to sidebar A) would display a list (menu) of all other pages which are in the same category as the selected page - no matter what the category.

So, instead of creating many different sidebar menus, you would have just one module which simply displays all pages of any category - dependent on the category of the page selected from the main menu.

Does that make sense?

try adjusting the start end menu levels in Basic Options Extensions > Module Manager > menu module.
