Hi Friends out there.

I installed Joomlas 2.5 and want to generate a RSS feed for my visitors.
I just don't manage in doing so. Whatever I do.
I can not get the rssfeed icon any where on any page where I want.
I was able to make feeds, made a menu-item on the Top...but that's it.
No one can subscribe to my feeds...it is just a link to an external *.xml

As I understand, one should be able to place a RSS feed icon on the page, write some feeds in Joomla and publish them ( after having activated the feedmodule )...

So...can any one help me out ? I'd really like to have my visitors to subscribe to my RSS feeds....
Please........... HELP !!!!!

Kind regards, John

Be informed that the RSS Feed icon/module would appear only on the pages that are of the type Blog Layout (e.g., Featured, Category).

Try creating a category blog layout and publish the module to that menu item that shows the category blog layout. You would see the icon.

Hi dear Sir,

Thank you for responding to my question. I tried to do as you explained to me.
But I can not find any blog or what so ever module, extension or how it is called in Joomla.
I think I am going to get rid of Joomla. It is the most harsh way of building a website.
Way to much problems with a module here, an extension there, and again a menu overhere.
And then again, you have nothing more then a simple website...nothing more ore special.
Joomla gives to much problems in building a website. There is no lay-out of where to place a menu or what...just positions that are nowhere explained.
There are far more easy ways of building a site with much more quality and looks....
I am very sorry to say, sir. But I will inform every one about my findings.

But for now, I thank you for your effort in trying to help me out.
I wish you well ...
John

Hi and apologies again for cross posting but nobody seems to get back to me (and other people) on this subject.

I have category blogs and FJ Related article blogs in my menu. I have enabled the Syndicate Feeds and assigned the module to these blog menu items. When i click on the RSS icon from these pages I go back to the home page.

When I add the query strings to the blog URL ?format=feed&type=rss, I get an error 500 page.

Can you help please? Many thanks.

Hi,

I actually found out that there were a couple of ampersand characters in the blog listing and when I removed them it started working again.

Only thing is that the rss icon that appears automatically when you include the module in the page points to the home page. So I recoded it manually to point to the appropriate RSS feed.

I hope this is helpful.
