Hi

I'll explain what I would like to do, and hopefully you can point me in the right direction on this, please.

In the backend of a Joomla! 2.5 site when creating/editing a user I want to extend this page so the Admin can also update some extra required fields.

The fields being:-
* Title
* Job Title
* Department <- Drop Down selection
* PayGrade

Plus a few more.

As you look at the default user edit page on the right there is a collapsible section called "Basic Settings" I would like my extension to appear as a collapsible section on the right aswell.

So questions...

1) Is this possible
2) If so, what is the best way to go about it?
3) I have been looking that JUser Object but not sure if I'm looking in the right place

Does anyone have any good URL's you can point me at?

Better still a sample piece of code doing something similar?

Many thanks in advance.

You can modify the code in the User Profile Plugin.

Hi

I was hoping to extend the user profile rather than modify core code otherwise it will stop the upgrading of Joomla.

I've since found an example of what I am trying to do called usermeta plugin. However its in Joomla1.5. But will look at it has a starting place to build what I'm after in 2.5.

Many thanks

It's better to use the core User Profile Plugin in 2.5 as a template.

Hi ichilver,
this is something I need every so often. Did you find a good solution for it? Do you have the link to the 1.5 - resource you mentioned?

This is actually something that should be possible for all joomla components, I think. It would be great if it was possible to add custom parameters to the params - field in a standard way.

regards Jonas

Hi again,
actually, I found this resource http://library.logicsistemi.it/en/jooml ... tom-fields , which is also pointing to this reference: http://docs.joomla.org/Creating_a_profile_plugin , which looks like exactly what I want.
